Short Bio

“James F. Canning is a M.S. student in the Sustainable and Resilient Infrastructure Systems program in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research concerns stormwater management, specifically how urban areas can use green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) to combat negative environmental and social effects resulting from development. He also is interested in how GSI can quantitatively enhance the quality of life and further environmental justice for impoverished communities in urban areas.

Jimmy graduated from Saint Louis University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 2015. Following graduation, he worked with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps assisting migrant communities and repairing homes for low-income families and the elderly in Tucson, Arizona.”
